Dr. Helen Kezie-Nwoha is a distinguished feminist peacebuilder, human rights advocate, and development practitioner with over two decades of leadership experience at national, regional, and continental levels. She holds a Ph.D. in Women and Gender Studies from Makerere University, Uganda; a Master of Arts in Gender and International Development from the University of Warwick, UK; and a Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.

As the Founder and Lead Researcher at Researchers Without Borders, and former Executive Director of the Women’s International Peace Centre, Dr. Kezie-Nwoha has successfully conceptualized and led high-impact regional programs advancing women’s rights, peacebuilding, transitional justice, and governance across Africa. She has built and managed complex institutional systems and steered organizational growth and influence at the global stage. Helen brings exceptional governance and strategic policy expertise to AfriRIGHTS through her active membership in key continental platforms, including serving as Chair of the Gender Is My Agenda Campaign (GIMAC) at the African Union, Member of FEMWISE (Network of African Women Mediators), and Advisory Member of the AU ECOSOCC Working Group on Women, Peace, and Security. She has been instrumental in policy engagements with the AU, IGAD, UN Women, and regional mechanisms to integrate gender-sensitive approaches into peace and security, conflict prevention, and human rights frameworks.
